Rush follows the lives of members of the prestigious Tactical Response team (TR),  a highly mobile unit that fills the operational gap between general duties police and the SWAT-like Special Operations Group. The team is seen responding to violent incidents such as carjackings, suicides and armed offences. Rush focuses on the TR officers, their intelligence officer, Leon Broznic and Superindendent Kerry Vincent, head of the TR administration. It explores both the working and personal lives of the team.

In the new season, Kerry has been promoted to Deputy Commissioner and has TR at her beck and call. A larger story arc will straddle the self-contained, week by week stories; and the personal lives of our central characters are also revealed more deeply than in the first three series.'

The fourth season opens with the assassination of the Police Minister and a war brewing on the docks throwing TR into the centre of a major new taskforce investigation.
