Rainn Wilson has confirmed that an Office spinoff with his character Dwight Schrute is currently in the very early stages of development.

“Spinoffs are awesome," Wilson said according Hollywoodreporter. "We are talking about a Dwight spinoff. It could be really cool. It would be on his farm which would be a bed and breakfast and have a crazy menagerie of characters. It would be even more far out than The Office."

The series would see Schrute return to his family beetroot farm and bed & breakfast, with what's called a "backdoor pilot" –an episode which runs during The Office's time slot to gauge audience reaction. If the series is picked up, it will likely in 2013.

Sources have said that the producers of the show would want some involvement of other original Office cast members.
