Penn Badgley

Penn Badgley began acting while growing up in Seattle, Washington, when he joined the Seattle Children's Theatre. He moved to Los Angeles at age 11 to pursue an acting and singing career. His engagements involved voiceover work for several video games.

He made his on-screen debut on a 1999 episode of Will & Grace. In 2000, he joined the cast of the daytime soap The Young and the Restless, earning him a Young Artist Award nomination. He later took major roles in three short-lived shows: Do Over, The Mountain, and The Bedford Diaries.

Badgley's biggest break came in 2007, when he joined the cast of the CW series Gossip Girl as the artistic Dan Humphrey. This saw him reunite with Leighton Meester, who he co-starred with on the film The Drive. While Badgley appeared in some films such as John Tucker Must Die, his success on Gossip Girl led to more major films, such as The Stepfather and Easy A.

Chace Crawford

Chace Crawford took a while before pursuing an acting career. He took up broadcast journalism at Pepperdine University, and still struggled to choose a career path. His mother convinced him to do acting, partly through the result of a career aptitude test he took in high school.

He made his acting debut in the 2006 TV movie Long Lost Son; the same year, he starred in the film The Covenant. He got his biggest break in 2007, when he was cast as Nate Archibald in the TV series Gossip Girl. The popularity of the show led him to other film roles, such as The Haunting of Molly Hartley and Twelve. He also received three Teen Choice Awards for the role.

Leighton Meester

Leighton Meester's first experience in acting came when she was 11, while she was growing up in Marco Island, Florida. After appearing in local productions, she and her mother moved to New York, where she pursued a modeling career, and made her TV debut in an episode of Law & Order.

See then moved to Los Angeles, where she took other acting roles while finishing her studies. Her first major break came in 2003, through the film Hangman's Curse. She held recurring roles in 24, Veronica Mars and the short-lived Tarzan, before joining the cast of another short-lived series, Surface.

Meester's biggest break came in 2007, when she was cast as socialite Blair Waldorf in the CW series Gossip Girl. The series, which catapulted her to stardom, led to roles in major films such as Date Night and Country Strong. Her popularity on Gossip Girl also allowed her to launch a music career.
