Olivia Munn learnt to be funny to avoid “eating with the old librarians” at school.

The actress discussed the idea that a woman can’t be attractive, funny and clever.

Olivia says this is an outdated notion, using her own life story as an example of how it can be done.

“I believe it was [Zach] Galifianakis who was saying something like people who are attractive can’t be funny, because funny comes from pain. And it’s interesting, because in my life, I moved around a lot, and I had a really abusive stepfather. I have a great stepfather now, but my first stepfather was, for fourteen years, really horrible. When you move around a lot and you’re constantly the new kid, because you’re a military family. Oklahoma, Utah, Japan, different parts of Japan — and humour and being self-deprecating and sarcastic was the thing that could break ice in every situation,” Olivia told Esquire.com. “All the kids were cliqued up. I would end up eating with the old librarians. And so it’s a very antiquated idea to think that you can’t be pretty and smart and funny.”

Olivia is best known for her role in TV series The Newsroom. She has also appeared in the male stripper movie Magic Mike and featured as a scantily clad model for a men’s magazine. She believes it is important to continue utilising all her assets as an example to other women that you can be many different things.

“It’s interesting, because different people will tell me, ‘Well, you’re not, you shouldn’t, you don’t have to do this anymore.’ But I don’t think that there is anything wrong with it, and it actually bothers me, like when I was on The Daily Show and there was this website that wanted to criticise me, saying, How could she be on the cover of Maxim and be on this smart show?” she explained. “So I did the cover of Maxim again. Because, you know what? Don’t you want for your own daughters to grow up and be smart and funny and beautiful and embrace their sexuality?”

Ashton Kutcher has reportedly been behaving like “a real man about town” while apart from Mila Kunis.

Mila has been in the UK shooting an upcoming movie recently and while Ashton was with her in London he has also been spending time in Los Angeles.

While stateside his behaviour during an evening out caused some raised eyebrows.

“Mila was shooting in Europe and Ashton seemed to be acting like a real man about town. He was very friendly with all the girls and spent the whole night chatting and flirting,” an insider told Heat magazine.

Ashton also spent time at a music festival and then relaxed with friends at a plush hotel in Palm Springs afterwards.

“Ashton was having a good time and his male friends were on the prowl. They all left with a group of girls at the end of the night,” the source explained.

Mila and Ashton have known each other for many years after they co-starred in US TV programme That ’70s Show. They got together last year, following Ashton’s split from Demi Moore.

The couple called time on their marriage after Ashton was accused of being unfaithful on their wedding anniversary. This is said to be playing on Mila’s mind.

“Mila knows how Ashton feels about her – he’s told her that he wants a family together. But it’s hardly surprising that sometimes she has worries,” a source explained.

Ian Somerhalder is pleading with baggage handlers in Belgium to stop their strike because his luggage is stuck in the country.

The 34-year-old Vampire Diaries star travelled to Brussels this week on business.

Ian was in the city to promote his Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which aims to educate people on issues affecting the environment.

The trip was off to a great start, with Ian tweeting about his “magical” experience there.

But the actor’s luck swiftly changed on his ill-timed outgoing flight to Toronto.

After landing in Canada, Ian learned baggage handlers working for Swissport Handling had walked out on the job.

This means his luggage could be stuck in Brussels until union workers reach a deal.

“MY BAGS ARE STUCK IN BRUSSELS-THERE IS A STRIKE-THEY ARE KEEPING MY LUGGAGE!!PLEASE STOP STRIKING!!!” Ian tweeted Tuesday afternoon. “GIVE ME MY BAGS BACK!”

According to Expatica.com, meetings between the union and Swissport officials ended without an agreement on Monday.

Ian is having a rough few weeks.

The actor recently ended his romance with Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev after three years of dating.

The pair are said to be determined not to let the break-up affect their work relationship.

The Vampire Diaries is currently in its fourth season, with season five scheduled to begin shooting later this year.
